This was made possible thanks to joint efforts. Donations came not only from Zhytomyr but from various corners of Ukraine, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, the USA, and so on. Five days – and 150,000 UAH were raised! This exact sum was enough to purchase the DJI Mavic 3T drone.

The Zhytomyr Community Foundation has already handed over the equipment to the military unit 3047 of the National Guard of Ukraine. Soon, this “little bird” will fly in the Pokrovsk direction. There, the drone will help the National Guardsmen detect enemy positions day and night, save the lives of comrades, and perform tasks effectively.

“This drone will go to the Pokrovsk direction. It will perform a reconnaissance and strike mission. With its help, the guys will be able to both survey the territory of their area of responsibility and search for the enemy,” noted National Guardsman Andriy.

In this incredible story of unity and support, a particularly touching one is about Mrs. Svitlana, the mother of the fallen serviceman from Zhytomyr, Volodymyr Rudiuk. Upon seeing the post about the drone fundraiser on Oksana Trokoz’s page, Svitlana Volodymyrivna brought 20,000 hryvnias to the Zhytomyr Community Foundation and donated them:

“This is for the boys from Vova. I saw that you are raising money for a ‘Mavic’ to send to Pokrovsk.”

The Ukrainian community in Washington, USA, also actively participated in the fundraiser. This Sunday, during Zhanna Solovyova’s visit to Washington, representatives of the St. Nicholas Cathedral community organized a Ukrainian lunch and fundraiser. Together, they raised $900 for the “Zhytomyr Drone” project. This particular donation was the final one and helped close the collection.

“The purchased DJI Mavic 3T drone may seem like just a grain of sand against the backdrop of massive needs. But for our National Guardsmen, who have been holding their positions in Pokrovsk for the third month, this very grain of sand can become extremely helpful and even life-saving. I sincerely thank everyone who responded and supported our fundraiser!”
