Zhytomyr Community Fund keeps on helping Zhytomyr Regional Clinical Hospital named after   O. F. Herbachevskyi. On May 23, representatives of the Fund, headed by the Chairwoman of the Board Zhanna Soloviova, handed over expensive and much-needed equipment to the medical institution.

Cooperation of Zhytomyr Community Fund with the Department of Orthopedics and Traumatology of the Regional Clinical Hospital began in mid-March 2022. At that time, many wounded soldiers and civilians from Kyiv region were already in this hospital. During the communication with the coordinator of the medical field of the Zhytomyr Community Fund’s work, Oleksii Brzhezytskyi, the head of the department of orthopedics and traumatology No. 2, Valerii Yakovlev expressed his fear that if the situation got worse, the doctors would not be able to give their patients proper treatment because of the lack of external fixation devices.

Knowing about this problem, Zhytomyr Community Fund began looking for the opportunity to get this equipment asking their friends, partners, and acquaintances for help. “Thanks to my personal connections with Dr. Jennifer Jerele from the Ohio Clinic, we managed to add the Zhytomyr Regional Clinical Hospital to the list for receiving external fixators,” said Oleksii Brzhezytskyi said.

So, a few days ago, a batch of orthopedic and trauma equipment was successfully delivered to 5 cities of Ukraine, including Zhytomyr. This aid was delivered thanks to the joint efforts of the British company Smith+Nephew and its American division Smith+Nephew Orthopaedics, the French engineering consulting company Egis, the Ukrainian division of Egis, which have arranged the transportation, the American nonprofit organization Medwish International, SIGN Fracture Care International and orthopedic surgeon Dr . Jennifer Jerele of the Ohio Clinic.

This is the fourth successful shipment of trauma equipment to Ukraine. Our team continues to work on the next shipment.

We will continue to make efforts so that our organization will be a bridge between Zhytomyr doctors and their Western colleagues for coope urgent needs quickly.
