In September Zhytomyr Community Fund together with its partners will hold the International Run Supporting Children in Ukraine “Back to School”.

 The goal of the International Run Supporting Children in Ukraine “Back to School” is to unite the people of Zhytomyr, friends of Zhytomyr and Ukraine in different parts of the world to help organize a proper educational process for students in Ukraine under the conditions of a full-scale war.

The initiator and coordinator of the the International Run Supporting Children in Ukraine “Back to School” is Zhytomyr Community Fund charity organization.

The organizers in Zhytomyr are Zhytomyr Community Fund, the “Make Me Tri” sports club, and the Zhytomyr City Council.

The central location of the International Run Supporting Children in Ukraine “Back to School” is Zhytomyr. Its main goal is to buy furniture and equipment to arrange educational premises, where the students of Zhytomyr Lyceum No. 25, which was destroyed on March 4, 2022 as a result of rocket fire by Russian invaders, will temporarily study.

Sister cities and friends of Zhytomyr and Zhytomyr Community Fund are also involved in the organization of the International Run Supporting Children in Ukraine “Back to School”. They will hold similar races in their own cities.

NGO “Renovation of Lyceum No. 25” will also join the “Back to School Run”.

The charity individual run involves overcoming a distance of 5 or 3 km.

 WARNING! Considering the high risk and danger caused by possible airstrikes of the Russian occupiers, in Zhytomyr the “Back to School Run” is planned to be held in an online format, although the organizers also consider an offline “Back to School Run”  as possible, in case of obtaining the approval of the Zhytomyr Military Civil Administration and relevant security agencies.

The foreign partner cities of the “Back to School Run” can organize an offline race, which involves covering a distance of 5 or 3 km on the official date of the race along a specified route, or participate online and cover the selected distance within the next two weeks from the date of the event.

When registering to participate in the “Back to School Run”, one can choose either offline or online format.

In case of online participation, the participant covers a distance of 5 or 3 km along a self-chosen route within two weeks. One should overcome the distance in the period from September 04, 2022 to September 18, 2022.

Participation in the “Back to School Run” involves a charitable registration fee. The charitable registration fee for participants in Ukraine is UAH 300 (basic contribution) and additional donations (optional): UAH 100, UAH 200, UAH 300 or UAH 500.

By registering to participate in the “Back to School Run”, the participant automatically agrees that the amount of the charitable contribution for participation in the “Back to School Run” is non-refundable.

Charitable funds received from the participants of the “Back to School Run” in all partner cities will be spent for charitable purposes, including for the purchase of furniture and equipment, to carry out repair work in educational institutions, including arrangement of educational premises and shelters, where the students of Zhytomyr Lyceum No. 25, which was destroyed on March 4, 2022 as a result of rocket fire by Russian invaders, will temporarily study.

Participants are admitted to the “Back to School Run” on condition of their proper and timely registration for the “Back to School Run”.

Registration of participants in partner cities is carried out on the websites of the local “Back to School Run” organizers.

The start package for online participants is sent by  e-mail and includes a registration letter, bib number and finisher’s medal. Delivery of the start package is carried out by “Nova Poshta” and/or e-mail (if the medal is electronic). Its cost is included in the price of the start package.

Participants of the offline “Back to School Run” receive a start package, which includes a bib number, etc. The finishing medal is handed out in the finishing corridor.

Handing out of start packages for participants of the offline “Back to School Run” in Zhytomyr (September 4, 2022) will take place on:

September 3, 2022, Saturday, 06:00 p.m. – 08:00 p.m. on Mykhailivska Street in the organizers’ tent.

September 4, 2022, Sunday, 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., at the address: Zhytomyr, 18 Mala Berdychivska Street, Zhytomyr Lyceum No. 25.

In Zhytomyr, the “Back to School Run” is not recorded by the electronic timing system. Each participant records their result independently, using special applications in a cell phone or sports trackers (pedometers). Each participant can post their photo with the result on social networks and mark it with the  #Back to School hashtag.

Prizes will be drawn among participants of the offline and online “Back to School Run” who posted their photos with the #Back to School hashtag on social networks. Prizes will be drawn randomly, using the Random system.
