About 5 thousand PLN were recently transferred from the Polish city of Bytom, Zhytomyr’s sister city, to the account of the Zhytomyr Community Foundation. These funds were raised during the charity race Bytomski Półmaraton, which took place on September 17, 2022 in support of Zhytomyr Lyceum № 25.

The fundraising was organized by the Foundation “Women of Ukraine in Silesia” with the assistance of the City Council of Bytom. The fundraising involved 12 volunteers who came to Poland as a result of the war in Ukraine. These people saw the horrors of war with their own eyes. They came along with their children from different cities of Ukraine: Kherson, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv.

The city of Bytom is a partner of the International charity race in support of children in Ukraine “Back to School”, initiated by the Zhytomyr Community Foundation to unite Zhytomyr citizens, friends of Zhytomyr and Ukraine in different parts of the world to help organize a full educational process for students in Ukraine in the conditions of a full-scale war.

“It was a good day (note – the day of the race in Bytom) of uniting Poles and Ukrainians. We realized that Poles are open people who have helped and will continue helping Ukrainians. However, due to the difficult economic situation in Poland, this assistance is not very significant at the moment. We have raised a small amount of money, but the Petrolana Foundation joined us and contributed most of the money to the bank account of our Foundation. We are very grateful for the support and the love for the children from Zhytomyr”, – shared his impressions Mr. Volodymyr, the representative of the Foundation “Women of Ukraine in Silesia”.
