From the first days of the full-scale war, Zhytomyr Community Fund, which has been operating for more than ten years, and Zhytomyr City Council launched a fundraising campaign together.

Zhytomyr Mayor Serhii Sukhomlyn and Chairwoman of the Board of Zhytomyr Community Fund Zhanna Soloviova, spoke about how much money has been received during 4 months, what it was spent on, and the plans during a joint press conference in the city council.

“We gathered to talk about the work done, to thank everyone who helps Zhytomyr, and to show that the Fund is working,” said Serhii Sukhomlyn.

Zhanna Soloviova told that a lot of people from Zhytomyr and different parts of the world joined the fundraising campaign. During the 116 days of the war, more than UAH 13.1 million in various currencies were collected as part of the fundraising campaign. UAH 9 055 373 have been spent during 4 months.

The funds were spent in the following 4 main areas:

– territorial defense of Zhytomyr;

– the needs of the military;

-support for the victims;

-support of internally displaced persons.

Helmets, a thermal imager, night vision devices, batteries, lubricants, generators, electronic equipment and other equipment for the military, a water filtration unit for the city of Mykolaiv and many other things were purchased with the funds received in the Fund’s accounts.

In the structure of expenses, 69.4% are the funds spent at the requests of the management of Zhytomyr City Council.

“For such a short period, we have worked well together with you, my friends. These are community and business funds not only from Zhytomyr. There are foreign partners who support us. Thank you to each and everyone of you who entrusted us with your funds – they were spent for a  good cause. However, money run out. The war continues and we must not relax. The fundraising campaign is going on. Every hryvnia of yours is important. Our strength is in unity!” Zhanna Soloviova emphasized.
